I feel like this is almost an ideal game to introduce to a kid as a first video game. Although it is certainly linear you're never only moving horizontally from left to right but in many directions. It's definitely on the easy side for most of the game so it feels almost relaxing to play it. The music and sound effects compliment it well making it feel truly like an interactive fairy tale. The level design is quite creative with dynamic events occasionally. Different themes appear in the levels and show much variety. The graphics are colorful with lots of nice little animations. I feel like this is a pretty good remake and I enjoyed it a lot. I never played the original Genesis version although I did play Mickey Mania which I thought was great. Is it any wonder why he's so popular? Less 0

Or maybe it's just because Mickey Mouse is such a loveable character. Look, guys, I get you want to show off your animation and voice acting, but after the 20th time of hearing the narrator talk about how Mickey thought the shadow looks familiar, it just gets annoying.īut that's just a minor complaint to what is otherwise a near perfect … Moreīut that's just a minor complaint to what is otherwise a near perfect game, especially if you're a Disney fan. Especially when you're trying to defeat a boss and this book is particularly difficult, so you have to do it over and over again. I guess that also leads to one of the problems I have with this game: the unskippable cut scenes.

The voice acting is so good, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a movie out of this with the same voice cast. There's a sense of wonder and excitement in exploring magical libraries, worlds made out of candy, and even haunted forests, which is also helped with just how terrific each level looks.īut what really caught my attention was the incredible voice acting, especially the voices of Mickey Mouse and the narrator. I think it's because no matter how difficult the levels get, they're also just plain fun. It walks the fine line between difficult but rewarding and difficult but just punishing. It's definitely not hard to the point where it's borderline sadistic, but it'll definitely make you want to pull your hair out or scream into a pillow.īut hey, difficult just means finishing a level is all the more fullfilling. If Walt Disney knew how many times I died playing this, he'd probably be insanely disappointed. Man, was I surprised at how unforgiving this one was. I also can't wait to replay it once the new controller arrives. I never want to play this game again ever.
